Primacy recency effect
Primary: People remember best the information they receive first.
Recency: People best remember the information they receive last.
Tesler's law
Reduce the complexity of your website to a minimum. This applies in particular to forms and other interactive elements.
Law of conciseness
The simpler, the better. Be as simple and concise as possible. This applies above all to graphics, but also to other elements of your website.
Hiksche law
Too many options overwhelm us. Give your users the right number of choices. Eliminate the “agony of choice” – this increases the likelihood that a decision will be made at all.
Miller's law
According to Miller, we can only hold a maximum of 7 (+/-2) elements in our short-term memory at any one time.
It is therefore best not to list more than 9 elements together. For example, categorize product features in fold-out elements.
Figure-ground-separation law
Separating elements from the background gives the layout of your website structure.
Use a different color/shape for the background than for the modules.
Goal gradient effect
Behavioral research has found that users work harder the closer they are to their goal.
Use progress indicators such as a timeline where appropriate.
