Facebook is a social network that was launched in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. The idea was originally based on yearbooks, as known from US colleges, and aimed to connect as many people as possible. While it was initially mainly used as a communication tool for family and friends, Facebook is now one of the most important advertising tools for companies and celebrities.

Every Facebook user has their own profile page on which they can publish content such as photos, videos or posts. Other people can also leave publicly visible messages on the profile owner’s wall and like or comment on posts. As with Instagram, Facebook also has a feed – the timeline. It is displayed as the start page when the app is opened and contains posts from content and friends marked with “Like”. These are not displayed in chronological order, but are arranged according to an algorithm.

In addition to profiles for private individuals, Facebook also offers “pages” for well-known personalities, artists, companies, organizations and brands. In contrast to profiles, these are only intended for commercial use. One of the differences here is that other users do not mark the company page as “Add as friend”, as is the case with private profiles, but with a “Like”. Facebook ad formats

In a Carousel ad, you can present up to 10 images and videos in one ad. This allows you to highlight different products and services and present them in detail. Carousel ads are also ideal if you want to tell your brand story in a creative way.

By using collection ads, you can not only arouse users’ interest in your company, but also immediately encourage them to purchase the advertised products. To do this, create an instant experience that leads users directly to further information or a purchase after clicking on the images or videos in your ad.

Story ads are also becoming increasingly popular on Facebook. Here, too, the interests of users are addressed emotionally – in an immersive and highly authentic way. Stories are also ideally suited to the fact that users nowadays mainly use their smartphones vertically.

Would you like to take your Facebook ads to a particularly personal level? Then place your ads in Messenger. The ads are displayed in the Chats tab of the Messenger app. If users then tap on your ad, a call-to-action opens, the goal of which you define when creating the ad (e.g. conversation with your company).
