Since 28 June 2025, the Barrier-Free Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG) has been in force – and with it the legal obligation to make digital products and services accessible.<\/p>

\ud83d\udcccThis means that websites, apps and digital services must be designed in such a way that they can be easily used by people with visual, motor or cognitive impairments.<\/p>

Important: Anyone who does not fulfil the legal requirements must expect fines and legal consequences<\/p>

\u2757Affected by the BFSG are, among others, providers of:
– E-commerce & online shops
– Online banking & telecommunications
– Digital service portals & appointment scheduling
– Mobility and ticket booking systems<\/p>

Micro-enterprises <10 employees & <\u20ac2 million turnover are exempt – but user-friendliness is still mandatory!<\/p>

What does the Accessibility Improvement Act actually require?
Comprehensible texts & clearly structured content.
\u2705 Alt texts for images & subtitles for videos.
\u2705 Complete operation via keyboard.
\u2705 Sufficient contrast and scalable font sizes.
\u2705 Logical navigation & consistent design.
\u2705 Compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
\u2705 Provision of an accessibility statement.<\/p>
